Airpush ads in mobile web may cost you Google Search Traffic

Recently many Ad Networks has been affected by redirection malwares. Some of the networks have taken action to filter them out and some others are either ignoring or not in a position to corner them.

Airpush, has been affected by these mallwares very badly. Any webpage is being redirected to some pages which contains some virus detection alert or app installation recommendations. The whole browser freezes and pushing the back button does not let you to go to the page that you were in, rather it will redirect to another mallware page.

Google penalizes such redirection calling it ‘Sneaky Mobile Redirection’ and takes down the whole site from index.

Now, which ad unit is doing such redirection. To our view, it can be any of the units- Interstitial, 360 Banner or even the Inline banners which Airpush introduced lately. We had tested removing one unit after another, but there was no luck until the Airpush code was totally removed.

Airpush support team reacts as if they don’t know anything about the matter. In a support ticket they asked a whole bunch of things like- Country, Cellular Network, Device ID, Phone model, IMEI number and many more. But when we asked them why they don’t investigate their own system without going to the client side behaviour, their excuse was without knowing all details they cannot do anything. Now knowing the details of one mobile, will they going to make some change? Definitely no. They will make a further excuse that this problem has been seen in this and that type of Mobile Phone models.

So, if you are monetizing any mobile web traffic with Airpush, please check them for a day or two. If nothing such redirection is happening it’s okay. But, if any redirection is seen please remove the code or else prepare to face removal of your site from Google Search Index.
